The Face & The Body Spa & Salon Acquired by St. Louis Entrepreneur Jennah Purk
Face & Body will keep its name and three current locations and become part of an existing growing medical spa, day spa and salon business throughout St. Louis region.
St. Louis (July 14, 2021) – The Face & the Body Spa & Salon, one of the first full-service day spas and salons, was sold to Jennah Purk, a local serial entrepreneur and business owner. The sale was effective July 1 for an undisclosed amount.
Purk, who owns Tribe LLC, the parent company for the medical spa, day spa and salon businesses will now include the The Face & The Body, whose name will be retained. Purk currently owns The Rock Med Spa in Rock Hill; Fuzion Salon & Spa in South County; and The Bend Salon in Webster Groves.
“We are thrilled to bring one of St. Louis’ first day spas and salons into our family of medical and day spas, and salons. The Face & The Body is an iconic name throughout St. Louis, and I have much admiration for its trailblazing founder Peggy Mitchusson who is a mentor to me,” said Purk.
The 2021 estimated revenue for Tribe with the acquisition of The Face & The Body will be near $7 million with more than 150 employees.
Additional medical spa services will be introduced later this year to make The Face & The Body a full-service medical spa, day spa and salon added Purk.
Founded in 1979, Mitchusson started The Face & The Body. During her 42 years of ownership, the business grew to become one of the best and most recognized day spas and salons in St. Louis with three locations in Brentwood, Chesterfield and O’Fallon, MO. With the three locations from The Face & The Body, Tribe will have a total of six locations.
“The only way that we can successfully grow is to build a culture where we continuously invest in the education and training of our team members, invest in state-of-art equipment, and introduce the best of technology to make the customer experience exceptional,” said Purk.
Purk has assembled an all-female executive team for Tribe LLC to manage the strategy, investments, operations, human resources, sales and marketing, technology, and finance. Purk will serve at CEO of Tribe. The executive management team includes:
- Stephanie Bruner – Director of Nursing
- Diane Dark, Director of Events and Client Outreach
- Michelle DePew, President and Chief Operating Officer
- Megan Gay – Director of Cosmetology
- Carol Price – Director of Finance
Purk explained that her role is to focus on strategy for Tribe. She is the current president of Purk & Associates, P.C., the leading, woman-owned St. Louis-based accounting, and management advisory firm. Earlier this year, Purk & Associates announced the mergers of two accounting firms. Because of the mergers and addition of talent, Purk & Associates estimates that 2021 revenue is on track to be $5 million, nearly $2 million more than 2020 revenues.
“The executive management team at Tribe is unique, talented and well suited for each of their roles. We decided to name the parent company Tribe because we came together over the past several years and formed our own group of friends made up of strong women with similar life experiences,” said Purk.
“When you find your ‘Tribe,’ empower them. The Face & The Body is the perfect fit and we are excited to build on the incredible foundation Peggy (Mitchusson) and her team have created over the past 42 years,” added Purk.
