Yesterday, I sat in on a Google Hangout On-The-Air, hosted by our web hosting company, GoDaddy. The title of this Hangout was “Creating Kick-Ass Content for Search Engine Success!” and was presented by Shawn Pfunder, a GoDaddy Web Expert. Now, this was the first time I had participated in a GoDaddy Google Hangout, and I must say that I found it to be very educational and worth my time, because it spoke directly about creating your own content. You can view a recorded video of the Hangout in its entirety here:

My key takeaway from this Hangout, was that anyone with the proper desire could be a writer, a content marketer, and a public relations specialist by simply beginning to write creatively. For the writing exercise, Shawn recommended creating simple Haiku poetry. I thought this was brilliant! Why? Because Haiku is a literary format that is introduced to kids in grade school because it is both simple in structure and simple to understand, yet can creatively convey a wealth of meaning.

I was so inspired by this revelation, that I immediately opened up another tab on my browser for SlideBatch and created the “How to Write Haiku” batch. The beauty of having a tool like SlideBatch is that when I am inspired by a topic, I can immediately create a batch. Here is my Haiku batch:

Now, by reading through the examples and watching the videos in this batch, you should have a good idea on how to write a Haiku. The question remains – What do you write about?

Try writing a Haiku about your core product or service and you will be a writer. You can also create a batch in SlideBatch to accompany your Haiku, to help market it. Finally, by sharing your Haiku, through Twitter, and adding a link to your batch, you will serve as your own publicist! The hardest part is getting started, so start writing today.
